I have a new recurring problem trying to sleep my laptop. The screen goes dark, but the power LEDs stay on for about 10 minutes.
From the system logs, the computer crashes after the screen is turned off (BSOD), and DMP files are created. At the same timethis started happening, the WiFi adapter started locking up during events like changing from one network to another, or simply logging off a network and back on. Once the WiFi adapter goes unresponsive, even a system shutdown fails and ends in another BSOD.The problems started recently when I was troubleshooting navigation software (OpenCPN) connections over the wired LAN to an offline hub. That involved using port sniffers like Wireshark and Hercules and finally updating to a beta of OpenCPN.
Here again is the link to the log files on One Drive ( ). I have tested it, and had others test it from other computers.
Not sure why you get that message. The file is also posted publicly on Dropbox ( which should also be easy to access. The logs have all changed considerably from the clean logs I created for you (i.e. Deleting prior logs and then saving out the new logs after prompting the BSOD crash). I could go through that process again, but then which individual logs would you need copy-and-pasted?There are hundreds of Events. I have exported the System set of events from that zip file to a text file, and copied and pasted it below.
I also have the Admin and Application logs, if you want those. The DMP file I have no way I know of to see in ASCIIor copy/paste.The BSOD itself occurs after the screen has black-out in prep for sleep, so I can't see the code (the BSOD just blinks up for a split second before the computer powers off, and that happens only about 15 minutes after the screen goes dark.)Thanks for sticking with me on this issue.

First understand the troubleshooting methodology of the Microsoft alleged 'experts' which often seems to be to perform a Bing search on any error message like 0x0000009F and then post the first Microsoft KB support article that comes up:It makes absolutely no sense for the Microsoft engaged alleged 'expert' to suggest that hotfix since if it were to install (which it won't) it wouldtake some of your system files back about 7 years in time. Fortunately the installer knows not to install those files. And it is extremely unlikely that anything in the Event Viewer logs is going to help diagnose a BSOD.Given that, let's see what comes up with next. This all just amazes me.The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. ElderN, That sounds fairly harsh (but may not be so far off base, after all).

This thread doesn't seem to be going anywhere in the past 10 days.Do you have any suggestions, or perhaps a recommendation for a forum that might be better at helping me dog this crippling issue down? This is my principal navigation computer, and we'll be taking off across the South and North Atlantic in the next couple ofdays.
Hi All,I recently decided to take the plunge and upgrade my Paint Shop Pro v 8 to v X7. Like the others, I do not find that this licensing service creates any issues on my computer and it's an older, less powerful model, and given the thousands of people using X7 without reporting this issue I'm inclined to believe that something else caused your issues, albeit it must have been reasonably concurrent with your installation of X7. I'd get the free Malwarebytes and run a complete system scan if I were you, because I suspect you have some type of malware present.
I also suggest getting Hitman Pro and doing the same thing. Between the two of them you should get a good scan of various malware that may be present. You should be able to reinstall X7 after you have gone through all of the scans and cleaned anything you find, because that program works for everybody else without these issues and you'll find that it's a great improvement in many ways over PSP8. JMHO.EDIT: And I do not think that you can just disable the licensing process if you want to use PSP X7 because the program will not run without those processes running when PSP is launched. However, you can prevent PSP from checking for updates in Preferences I believe, and even block it from accessing the internet using your firewall's options. You can also block the Psi service from accessing the internet with your firewall (I just tested that and X7 still works), so it seems that the process just has to run, not necessarily be able toconnect to the internet. You might want to try that, although I can't see PSP being the cause of your issues. And when you uninstalled PSPX7 did you use the uninstall tool provided near the top of this forum? That's the best way to do a clean uninstall.

I tried disabling it and then opened X7 and got a window saying that there my PSP was corrupted and to do a fresh install of the program. So I closed that window and re-enabled the service and then X7 ran just fine. But I was able to confirm that I could block the Psi service from accessing the internet with my firewall and the program still ran fine. But as the service doesn't seem to consume any resources to speak of I don't mind having it running, although I left it blocked with my firewall because I figure the fewer things trying to access the internet the better off I am, at least in terms of resources or slowdowns in operations.
Maybe it's a system specific issue??I usually block all programs that don't have a real need to do so from accessing the internet for that reason, and if I want to check for updates I can do that myself rather than getting prompts about available updates popping up all the time so I turn that off in programs also when I can find it. If this remains the same all day it appears that something was amiss with the installation somewhere.FYI;I have been using PSP since the beginning when Jasc Software designed and sold it and Video Studio since Ulead owned it. I don't give up easily but have on occasion had problems like this one.As mentioned by JoeB, these problems can be system specific or caused by driver clashes etc.I run a full Malwarebytes scan and image backup every weekend. After this, I shall have another attempt at installing PSP x7, making a restore point immediately before.I shall post back here after the re-install.

I have to replace my Sony VAIO that ran Windowns 7 because of the graphic card kicked the bucket. This new Dell laptop 'supposed' to be better and faster but there's one problem - it keeps dropping wifi signals. The Sony with win 7 did drop signals but it was more like a once or twice a day sort of thing. This one, it drops signals every few minutes. Sometimes it comes back on its own in matter of seconds, other times, I have to troubleshoot to bring it back, while the odd times, I just have to sit tight to wait for it to miraculously recover. In fact, I finished typing my post a minute ago and when I hit 'submit' the wifi dropped and now I am typing a second time.We have other wireless devices in the house but none of them has the same issue. The desktop also runs win 10 but it's wired to the network so never a problem.I don't know much about computers but one thing I know is that nothing else has changed other than a new laptop with a different OS. Is dropping signals a common problem with win 10 or should I blame my computer? Everyone has the same ip range starting 192 etc and 1,000 post this infoIs this what you want?
Didn't realize it didn't copy the whole thing.
